We inform you that Costa Rica's Consumer Price Index, used to measure inflation, registered a decrease of 0.21% in August, marking the second consecutive month of decline.<\/p>\n
With this result, the year-on-year variation was -0.94%, while the cumulative variation so far this year was -1.56%.<\/p>\n
According to the National Institute of Statistics and Census, the divisions that most influenced the fall were food and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as recreation, sports and culture.<\/p>\n
Of the 289 goods and services that make up the index, 42% decreased in price, 40% increased, and the remaining 18% remained unchanged. Among the products with the greatest negative effect were beans, tourist packages abroad, and gasoline. In contrast, diesel, vanica and pineapple contributed to the increase in some items.<\/p>\n
In total, eleven of the thirteen divisions that make up the index showed price decreases.<\/p>\n
Thus, the country accumulates another month with inflation in negative territory, a key data for the national economy.<\/p>\n
