{"id":1965,"date":"2026-05-04T19:10:52","date_gmt":"2026-05-04T19:10:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ics.cr\/?p=1965"},"modified":"2026-05-11T19:47:16","modified_gmt":"2026-05-11T19:47:16","slug":"meic-reveals-financing-map-with-over-80-options-available-for-smes-in-costa-rica","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ics.cr\/en\/meic-revela-mapa-de-financiamiento-mas-de-80-opciones-disponibles-para-mipymes-en-costa-rica\/","title":{"rendered":"MEIC reveals financing map: more than 80 options available for SMEs in Costa Rica"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Ministry of Economy, Industry and Trade presented a new map that exposes the wide range of financing available for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises, as well as startups in Costa Rica.<\/p>\n<p>The study, released on April 30, 2026, identified the participation of 50 public and private entities offering a total of 88 financial products, including reimbursable and non-reimbursable funds.<\/p>\n<p>According to the results, 74.1% of these products are loans, while the remaining 26.1% are seed capital funds. In addition, 15 institutions offer this type of non-repayable financing specifically targeted at startups.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of terms and conditions, the report highlights that more than half of loans denominated in colones have interest rates below 10.1% p.a., and 17.1% p.a. are even below 5.1% p.a., reflecting a competitive environment for access to financing.<\/p>\n<p>Available amounts range from \u20a150,000 to \u20a11,200,000,000, depending on the product type, and include additional benefits such as advice, training, grace periods, and guarantee schemes.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister of Economy, Patricia Rojas, stated that this mapping seeks to centralize information and facilitate decision-making by entrepreneurs and business owners, in a context where there was previously no unified tool.<\/p>\n<p>With this initiative, the MEIC aims to strengthen the business ecosystem and improve access to key resources for the country's productive growth.<\/p>\n<p>This is a news service prepared by ICS.
