The measure comes amid trade negotiations with several European countries and could lead to renewed tensions in international trade.<\/p>\n<p>Digital services taxes aim to tax the revenue generated by large technology platforms in the jurisdictions where they create value. However, the United States considers that these types of taxes disproportionately affect its companies, and has therefore stated its intention to respond with retaliatory tariffs.<\/p>\n<p>Although Costa Rica does not currently apply a tax of this nature, the development of these international tax policies demonstrates how tax decisions can directly impact commercial relations between countries. Likewise, Costa Rican companies with international operations should remain attentive to the evolution of these measures, especially those linked to global supply chains or trade with the United States and Europe.<\/p>\n<p>This has been a news service prepared by ICS.
