The United States maintains that these taxes disproportionately affect American companies and has raised the possibility of responding by imposing new tariffs.<\/p>\n<p>Although Costa Rica does not currently apply a specific tax on digital services of this nature, the evolution of these discussions reflects how tax decisions can influence international trade relations and have effects for
