Throughout the year 2026, the National Institute of Statistics and Census, INEC will be visiting homes, businesses and farms throughout the country to collect key information to keep Costa Rica's official statistics up to date.
A total of nine statistical operations will be active, including the Consumer Price Index, the Continuous Employment Survey, the National Household Survey and the National Agricultural Survey. These surveys provide a more accurate picture of the national reality in areas such as employment, poverty, labor demand, entrepreneurship and price variations.
INEC reminds that all its staff is duly identified with ID card and institutional clothing, and that citizens can verify the identity of the interviewers through the official website of the institution. In addition, interviews can be conducted without entering homes, respecting the security measures of each place.
Finally, INEC emphasizes that the information provided is strictly confidential and protected by law, and that its use is exclusively statistical, to support the country's decision making based on reliable data.
