The National Institute of Statistics and Censuses presented the results of the Consumer Price Index corresponding to September 2025.
According to the report, consumer prices registered a monthly decrease of 0.40%, accumulating a year-to-date variation of minus 1.95%, and an interannual inflation of minus 1.00%, confirming that Costa Rica maintains a negative inflation trend.
The level of the general index stood at 108.236 points, compared to 108.672 in the previous month.
The divisions that most influenced the decline were Information and communication, and Food and non-alcoholic beverages. Among the products that decreased the most were mobile telephony, tomatoes and airline tickets.
In contrast, university education, new automobiles and foreign travel packages registered price increases.
Of the 289 goods and services analyzed, 37% went down, 47% went up and 16% remained unchanged.
With this trend, Costa Rica continues to show price stability, although with a slight year-on-year deflation.
