The Ministry of Finance announced the incorporation of new functionality in the TRIBU-CR platform, The objective is to facilitate taxpayers' compliance with their tax obligations.
As of March 18, both individuals and legal entities will be able to manage directly from the Virtual Office, known as OVi, requests for payment facilities, specifically deferrals and installments of tax debts.
The system automatically displays the debts that qualify for this type of management, as well as the available terms, applicable interest and projected installments, which simplifies the process and reduces the need for face-to-face procedures.
In addition, once the application has been filed, the taxpayer will be able to follow up online the status of the process and the communications related to the process.
In case of approval, payments can be made both online, by registering an IBAN account, and in person at Banco de Costa Rica and Banco BAC branches.
The General Directorate of Taxation states that this measure is part of the process of modernization and digital transformation of the tax system, seeking a more agile, efficient and transparent management.
In order to access these facilities, taxpayers must comply with requirements such as having filed their returns, justify their financial situation and, in some cases, provide additional information such as projected cash flows or payment guarantees.
This update represents a relevant step towards the digitalization of tax services in Costa Rica.
