Costa Rica continues to strengthen its alignment with the tax standards promoted by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), particularly regarding fiscal transparency and the prevention of practices that allow for the artificial transfer of profits between jurisdictions.

These initiatives are part of the country's commitments to strengthen the integrity of the tax system and ensure taxation that is more aligned with the economic activity actually carried out by taxpayers.

The international trend points toward greater demands for documentation, economic substance, and information disclosure in cross-border transactions, especially for business groups with a presence in multiple countries.

In this context, companies with international operations will need to continue evaluating their corporate structures and tax compliance policies, given a regulatory environment increasingly focused on transparency and information exchange between tax administrations.
