The Foreign Trade Promoter, PROCOMER, presented the report Zona Franca: 35 years building value for Costa Rica.
The study reveals that, in 2024 alone, the Free Trade Zone Regime will contribute 15% of Gross Domestic Productgenerating more than 265 thousand direct and indirect jobs, of which 45% were occupied by women.
In addition, this model concentrated the 74% of foreign direct investmentattracting more than US$3.7 billion and recording local purchases of US$6 billion, equivalent to 57% of its total expenditures.
Another relevant fact is that for every dollar exempted, free trade zone companies return almost three dollars to the national economywith net benefits in terms of employment, production and revenue.
