The BCCR presented the update of the unpaid domestic work account, which provides information on the economic valuation of the work performed by household members in productive activities such as food preparation, cleaning and maintenance of goods.

Unpaid domestic work (TDNR) in our country had an economic value of ₡9.6 trillion in 2022, equivalent to 21.4% of the Gross Domestic Product. Of that estimate, women contributed twice the economic value of TDNR to their households compared to men (67.2% and 32.8%, respectively).

In other results of the TDNR account for the year 2022, the urban area accounted for 73.2% of the total economic value, and the remaining 26.8% corresponded to the rural area.
