The Ministry of Finance reported that the Fiscal Control Police (PCF) carried out an inspection of a warehouse complex and a house located in San Joaquín de Flores, Heredia, where a significant amount of goods was found that were allegedly imported into the country without payment of taxes or the corresponding permits.
During the operation, products such as cigarettes, deodorants, household items, medicines, toothpaste, soaps, footwear, and liquor were located. According to the first count conducted by the authorities, 424,000 units had been counted, while the quantification and confiscation efforts continued.
The intervention stemmed from an anonymous complaint about unusual movements and the alleged distribution of goods from the warehouses. Following this information, the PCF carried out surveillance and monitoring efforts that culminated in the raid, in coordination with other authorities.
Hacienda highlighted this operation as part of the actions it is carrying out against smuggling and tax evasion. It also recalled that citizens can file complaints about possible irregularities affecting public finances through the channels established by the institution.
